Montenegro is funding energy efficiency in hotels with up to 50,000 euros per property and up to 70 percent of the costs. The call for hotels has not been published yet. Preparation still decides now.
The Eko-fond in Podgorica runs a grant programme of 500,000 euros, financed from EU sources. Funded are thermal insulation and windows, efficient heating and cooling systems such as heat pumps or VRF units, solar thermal, LED lighting, the modernisation of cold rooms, and building management systems including training to EN ISO 50001.
The process has one particular feature that decides between success and failure. First the Eko-fond qualifies the contractors. That deadline has been running since 11 September 2026 and ends on 23 December 2026 at 3 p.m. Only afterwards can hotels apply. An application without a quotation from a qualified contractor does not formally enter the evaluation at all.
Anyone who only reacts once the call for hotels appears will have to choose a measure, find a contractor, obtain a site visit, receive a quotation and gather every piece of evidence, all within a deadline that is already running. That order cannot be shortened.
